About UCD College of Business and Law

The College brings together the Schools of Business and Law. The objectives - to move into Fourth level postgraduate activities and to achieve a quantum increase in research output - will be achieved by supporting individual and interdisciplinary research projects and by developing new, well-funded research centres. This emphasis on research is reflected in the ongoing commitment to high quality teaching and learning, which will be backed by rigorous and widely published research.

Key areas of research

The College conducts research in a number of fields, including:

  • Management
  • Marketing
  • Banking and finance
  • Industrial relations
  • Corporate governance
  • European law and governance
  • Criminology, criminial law and criminal justice
  • Commercial law

Outputs

The two Schools provide great opportunities for researchers to work together, exchange ideas and develop new joint programmes of teaching and research. By working more closely with each other and with other researchers both inside and outside UCD, the Schools are acquiring the scale to compete more effectively internationally, to bid for more resources and to enhance the impact of their research outputs.
