The College is one of the largest and most productive research clusters in the country, with its seven Schools undertaking a wide range of research projects and frequently attracting both international attention and recognition. In keeping with the university’s ambitious vision for research, the College promotes interdisciplinary research and teaching within UCD and with other institutions in Ireland and abroad.
Between them, the Schools run dozens of research projects, from small single-discipline endeavours, to large interdisciplinary undertakings.
The College cultivates strong industry links to keep its applied research programmes rooted in the real world of business and provide routes to market via technology-transfer initiatives. A number of successful campus companies have emerged from this College including, Changing Worlds, BiancaMed, Neosera Systems and WBT Systems.
The College is also home to the UCD Complex and Adaptive Systems Laboratory (CASL) Research Institute and a number of major collaborative programmes including the National Digital Research Centre (NDRC) , Technology Research for Independent Living (TRIL) and CLARITY, the SFI Centre for Science, Engineering and Technology (CSET) established in April 2008.
