The Complex and Adaptive Systems Laboratory is a dynamic multidisciplinary research community advancing scientific knowledge through mathematics and computation.



ABOUT CASL

The Institute's mission is to provide world-class leadership in the science of extracting value from data, and extrapolating predictions from simulation in order to provide insight and vision to drive innovation, and address major national and global challenges to our society and the environment in which it thrives.
Established in 2006, CASL is a major strategic investment within Ireland and is the flagship interdisciplinary research and educational Institute in applied mathematics, computational science and informatics. CASL is a highly collaborative environment, collocating 30 Principal Investigators and 170 Postgraduates and Postdoctorates from over ten different academic disciplines.

FUNDING

UCD CASL's current success is built on strong support from the Irish Government and the European Union, as well as a growing appreciation by private industry that CASL can deliver the innovative and timely outputs that are crucial to ICT sector companies.
In addition to investment from UCD, CASL has raised in excess of €50 million from a variety of external sources through continued excellence in national and international research and innovation.

CASL continually evolves new thematic clusters that are at the cutting edge of interdisciplinary research and education in ICT. Its core research programmes are:

COLLABORATORS

The CASL Industry Affiliate Programme provides a framework to ensure long-term partnerships are built on research collaborations, PhD programmes, university-industry partnered research grants, internships, advanced training and more. The immediate focus is on expanding national relationships, and in the medium term, attracting international partners.
