UCD Conway Institute

The UCD Conway Institute of Biomolecular & Biomedical Research is Ireland's largest biosciences research institute, exploring fundamental mechanisms of chronic diseases for creative solutions in diagnostics and therapeutics.

ABOUT UCD CONWAY

The vision of the UCD Conway Institute is to design new approaches to disease prevention and therapy based on a thorough understanding of the biological molecular mechanisms that cause disease. The Institute was founded in 1999 and its 11,500m building was opened in 2003.

Through world-class facilities and infrastructural support, UCD Conway enables researchers in the biosciences to compete successfully on the international stage and to place Irish bioscience in the global spotlight.

There are approximately 450 people associated with the Institute comprising 94 Conway Fellows and their teams of postdoctoral researchers and graduate students.

FUNDING

UCD Conway was awarded approximately €92M through the Programme for Research in Third-Level Institutions (PRTLI) funding across Cycles 1-3 and its researchers have since been awarded over €156M in grant income from sources including the European Union, Wellcome Trust, Science Foundation Ireland and the Health Research Board.
