UCD Earth Institute conducts research to find solutions to key challenges in sustainable energy, climate change, the built environment, natural hazards and nature conservation that are relevant for Ireland and contribute to global understanding.

 ABOUT UCD EARTH INSTITUTE

It is a centre for energy and environment research of a scale capable of leading Ireland's response to climate change and the global energy crisis, thereby making Ireland an innovation hub for "green technologies".

Research at the UCD Earth Institute is about:

- Generating knowledge and insights that did not previously exist
- Finding new and sustainable ways of living
- Research driven adaptation technologies and strategies in response to climate change
- Risk reduction in the natural environment
- Expanding the capacity in business, academia and government to innovate and to transform challenges into opportunities
- Bringing insights from science and engineering to inform policy and the public

FUNDING

UCD Earth Institute investigators have received over €120M in research funding to date, from government, EU & and industry.

COLLABORATIONS

UCD Earth Institute investigators collaborate with over one hundred universities and agencies throughout Ireland, Europe and across the world. Within Ireland key government agencies include: EPA, SEAI and the GSI. The Institute also has several strategic industrial partnerships in the Energy, Infrastructure and Bio arenas.
