The National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training is a world-class institute that provides training and research solutions for the bioprocessing industry.

ABOUT NIBRT

NIBRT's mission is to support the bioprocessing industry by providing a unique learning experience for trainees in an environment that replicates the most modern industrial bioprocessing facility. In parallel, leading edge research is undertaken in key areas of bioprocessing in collaboration with industry.

RESEARCH

NIBRT research is based on a foundation of scientific excellence and is focused on delivering practical solutions to the biopharma industry. Research programmes cover all aspects of the biopharma manufacturing process. Some key themes include:

- Cell line development
- Media characterization and optimization
- PAT / QbD
- Glycosylation
- Full product characterization

NIBRT research programmes have been developed through collaboration with industry. Research solutions can be tailored to meet specific client requirements. These solutions include contract research, consultancy and collaborative research projects.

TRAINING

NIBRT provides a "one stop shop" for the bioprocessing industry's training requirements and offers a dynamic catalogue of course content from which unique training solutions are built for Clients. These solutions range from operator training through to the senior management training and can be delivered in a variety of formats to suit each Client's requirements. NIBRT's aim is to deliver holistic training programmes in a realistic GMP simulated, operational manufacturing environment.

FACILITIES

The NIBRT facility is a purpose-built, multi-functional building which replicates the most modern industrial bioprocessing facility. The total building area is approximately 6,500m2 over two floors. At the heart of the NIBRT building is the bioprocessing pilot plant, consisting of extensive upstream, downstream, fill-finish and the associated analytical facilities. The facility also provides extensive research laboratory areas with ample capacity for research teams and for client companies.

NIBRT is based on an innovative collaboration between University College Dublin, Trinity College Dublin, Dublin City University and Institute of Technology Sligo
