My research work has an innovative focus with the objective of improving economically important traits (feed intake, growth, energetic efficiency and ruminal methanogenesis) through strategic nutritional intervention or discovery of underlying physiological of molecular mechanisms. Current
Research Interests: Examining the underlying biological mechanisms regulating nutrient utilisation in cattle. Understanding
the molecular mechanisms controlling the
expression of the compensatory growth phenomenon, in muscle tissue of cattle Understanding the molecular control of appetite, digestion, absorption, cellular energy synthesis and growth in cattle undergoing the compensatory growth phenomenon. Understanding the digestive and absorptive capacity of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) in the pre-ruminant animal, with particular focus on the important role that carrier-mediated transport across membranes, plays in nutrient absorption. Development
of blueprints for biologically and economically efficient suckler bull beef
production systems that meet market requirements. Strategies to enhance the reproductive efficiency of beef cows. |
