Biography

James Breen is Lecturer in Food Supply Chain Management at UCD.

He completed his BAgrSc in Agribusiness and Rural Development at UCD in 1999 and his MSc in Agricultural Science at UCD in 2001. He completed his PhD in Agricultural Economics at the University of Missouri in 2011.

Prior to taking up this appointment in May 2011, he was a research officer in the Rural Economy and Development Programme in Teagasc.

His research interests are predominantly in the area of farm-level modelling and specifically in the examination of the impact of alternative agricultural and environmental policies on Irish farmers. He has worked extensively with micro data from the Teagasc National Farm Survey to examine those factors which impact on farm performance and profitability.
