Biography

Dr. Ole Boysen joined UCD as a Lecturer in Agricultural Economics in September 2017.

He has completed a master-equivalent degree in Business Economics at University of Kiel, Germany in 1999, a MSc in Management Science and Information systems at the Pennsylvania State University, USA in 2000 and a PhD in Economics at Trinity College Dublin in 2009.

Dr. Boysen was a postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute for International Integration Studies at Trinity College Dublin from 2008 to 2011 where he contributed to EU FP6 and FP7 projects. He has worked as an Assistant Professor in Agricultural Economics at the University of Hohenheim, Germany from 2011 to 2016. From April 2016 to September 2017, he has served as the Interim Head of the Department of Agricultural and Food Policy and Deputy Director of the Institute for Agricultural Markets and Policy at the University of Hohenheim. He also served as a lecturer and the local Program Coordinator for the German Doctoral Certificate Program in Agricultural Economics at the University of Hohenheim.

As a quantitatively-oriented economist, Dr. Boysen's research interests are in the development and application of quantitative methods in the fields of agricultural, trade, environmental and development economics and policy and econometrics.

Dr. Boysen has published in international journals such as Journal of Agricultural Economics, Review of Development Economics, Journal of International Trade and Development, South African Journal of Economics, Mitigation and Adaptation Strategies for Global Change, German Journal of Agricultural Economics.

He was a visiting researcher at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), Washington DC and worked as a consultant for the FAO, the European Commission's Joint Research Institute, Seville and the Overseas Development Institute, London. He also taught professional training courses for data analysis with R aimed at researchers on several occasions.
