Biography

Dr. Cara Augustenborg teaches the Climate Change and Environment course in the World Heritage Management M.Sc. programme within UCD's School of Biology and Environmental Sciences. She is also managing director of Impact Research Management, Chairperson of Friends of the Earth Ireland, and climate change spokesperson for Ireland's Green Party.

From 2007-2011, Cara worked as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in UCD's School of Agriculture, researching greenhouse gas emissions from bioenergy crops in Ireland under a DAFM RSF project.

Prior to her arrival at UCD, Cara was a Fulbright Scholar and Walsh Fellow in Teagasc's Environmental Research Centre from 2003 to 2007. She received her doctorate and M.Sc. in Environmental Science & Engineering at University of California, Los Angeles and obtained a B.Sc. in Biochemistry at the University of Washington, Seattle. Her doctoral dissertation was entitled "Nitrogen recycling strategies for the sustainability of Irish Agriculture", which investigated the environmental impact of out-wintering pads with respect to nitrogen. Cara was also the Irish Ambassador for Ben & Jerry's Climate Change College.
