Dr Richard Waldron is an Urban Studies Foundation ( Post-Doctoral Fellow in the School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy (APEP). His work has been published in leading international, peer-reviewed journals, including GeoForum, Housing Studies, the International Journal of Housing Policy and Tijdschrift voor Economische en Sociale Geografie. 

In 2013, Richard completed his doctoral thesis through Professor Eugene O' Brien's PhD programme in Sustainable Development, which was funded by the Irish Research Council's 'Graduate Research Education Programme.' This research examined the impacts for households of the collapse in the Irish property market and the resultant mortgage arrears crisis. Following the successful award of his doctorate, Richard was awarded an Irish Research Council Post-Doctoral Fellowship in 2014.  

Richard holds a Masters of Urban and Regional Planning (UCD) and is a full corporate member of the Irish Planning Institute. He also holds a BA in archaeology and geography which was awarded in 2005 (UCD). In addition to working in planning practice, he was a research intern at the National Institute for Regional and Spatial Analysis (NIRSA) at NUI Maynooth in 2009. He has been a visiting scholar to Prof. Manuel Aalbers' 'Real Estate/ Financial Complex' research group at KU Leuven in 2015 and to the College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs (CUPPA) at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2009. More recently, Richard has provided consultancy services to the Irish Housing Agency and Dublin City Council and is an article reviewer for the journals Urban Studies and  Urban Studies Research.
