Biography

Current Research Interests: 
The main focus of my research is investigating the mechanisms underlying the development of a variety of kidney disorders with particular focus on diabetic nephropathy, proteinuric diseases, drug-induced nephrotoxicity and renal cancers. 

I am also an experienced specialist lecturer in pharmacology and related disciplines including renal pharmacology, toxicology, health and safety, diabetes and diabetic complications, chemotherapeutic agents and principles of infection

Teaching

Teaching Philosophy

My principle goal as a teacher of science and medicine is to excite and engage students. The main values that I seek to impart to my students are curiosity, strong communication skills, critical evaluation and healthy skepticism!
     

Developing as a Teacher

Throughout my research career I have endeavored to gain as much teaching experience as possible. I have recently completed a Graduate Diploma in University Teaching and Learning (Level 9) completing modules on Module & Programme Design, Peer Observation of Teaching, Assessment for T&L in Higher Ed, Problem Based-Learning in Higher Ed and Becoming a Better University Teacher. During this programme, my understanding of university education has developed significantly.
