Colm McLaughlin is Associate Professor in Human Resource Management and Employment Relations at the UCD School of Business. His research is in comparative and institutional employment relations, with a particular focus on the effectiveness of different systems of regulation in protecting employment standards. His research has examined gender equality outcomes, training systems and low paid work. He also has an interest in case studies for teaching and has published articles on the case method.
He is a graduate of the University of Auckland (BA and MComm) and holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge (Judge Business School and Darwin College). Prior to joining UCD Colm was a research fellow at the Centre for Business Research at the University of Cambridge and a lecturer in Management and Employment Relations at the University of Auckland, and has held management positions in local government and the hospitality sector. He is the PRME Coordinator for the College of Business and the Co-Director of the UCD School of Business Centre for Business and Society (CeBaS), and a Research Associate at the University of Cambridge. He was the Conference Chair for the 2016 Irish Academy of Management Conference held at the UCD Michael Smurfit Business School.

My research interests include:
Colm McLaughlin is a Research Associate of the Centre for Business Research at the University of Cambridge and collaborated with Professor Simon Deakin on the ESRC funded 'Addressing Gender Inequality through Corporate Governance' project.
He is currently working on case studies (writing cases and the history of the Harvard Case study method) in collaboration with Dr Todd Bridgman and Professor Stephen Cummings of the Victoria University School of Management in Wellington, New Zealand.
