Biography

Dr. Virpi Turkulainen is Associate Professor in Management at University College Dublin, School of Business. Prior to that she worked as Fulbright Scholar at Stanford University and Academy of Finland post-doctoral fellow at Aalto University in Finland and has also held several visiting scholar appointments in US and Europe. Her research interests are in areas of organization design, organizational integration, and operations strategy. Virpi has published for example in Journal of Operations Management, International Journal of Operations & Production Management, Journal of Supply Chain Management, Industrial Marketing Management, International Journal of Project Management, and Journal of Organization Design.
Virpi is an active member at the Academy of Management and has been elected to the Executive Committee of the Operations and Supply Chain Management (OSCM) Division. She currently serves as the Program Chair (2017) of the OSCM Division.

Research

Research Interests

My scholarly interests are broadly in the area of operations, project, and supply chain management. My aim is to develop a detailed understanding of how operations, projects, and supply chains are managed from an organization and strategic perspective. Most of my work focuses on coordination and integration in the context of operations, projects, and supply chains at different levels, including global and micro levels. In addition, I study operations strategy, projects, and supply chains from a decision-making perspectives.
