Physical chemistry of biocolooids:
 
Organisation and functioning of biocolloids, biopolymers, nanoassemblies (protein nano-particles, surfactants micelles, microemulsions), conformational and phase transitions in biocolloids; hydration effects in biopolymers and in nanoaggregates, encapsulation of active compounds in industrial formulations, elasticity of biopolymers and nanoaggregates and gels.

Ultrasonic spectroscopy and high-frequency dynamic rheology
Application of high -resolution measurements of velocity and attenuation of ultrasonic longitudinal and shear waves for analysis of microstructural organization, particle sizing, sedimentation and creaming phenomena, ligand binding and surface adsorption, conformation transitions of polymers and biocolloids, monitoring of biocatalysis in complex colloid systems and matrixes, aggregation, gelation and crystallisation processes. High-frequency viscoelasticity of emulsions, suspensions and gels.

Technology transfer: for product development, QA/QC and optimization of technological processes in both of R&D development and industrial environments.

  • Technologies for spreadable butter and mouthfeel of low fat milks.edimentation and creaming in pharmaceutical emulsions.  Effect of stabilizers (e.g. coating polymers) on rate of aggregation and particle size. 
  • Surfactant encapsulation of DNA fragments
  • Casein 'chaperones' for control of heat induced aggregation of milk proteins

Ultrasonic spectroscopy
Our proprietary patented ultrasonic technology commercialised in 2002 is employed in the range of High-Resolution Ultrasonic Spectrometers (HR-US) for analysis of molecular transformations and microstructural characterisation. The HR-US spectrometers are currently used in Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, Food, Personal Care, Chemicals, Petrochemistry, and other industries and academic research worldwide.
