I was born in Phu Yen province, Vietnam in 1978. I graduated Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Engineering in Bridge and Highway Engineering from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (Vietnam) with the top one of my class in 2001 and 2004. After nearly a year working at Bridge Consultant Company, by the end of 2001, I joined Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Ton Duc Thang University as lecturer. I moved to Ireland to do my PhD study at the University College Dublin (UCD) in 2007 and obtained PhD degree in Civil Engineering in 2011. I worked as a post-doctoral researcher of the project ¿Strategic Research in Advanced Geocomputation¿ at Digital Media Centre, Dublin Institute of Technology for 1.5 years. Since May 2013, I am a research scientist, a LiDAR group leader Urban Modelling Group at UCD, where I worked for the project titled ¿Rethinking Tunnelling for Urban Neighbourhoods-RETURN¿ funded by ERC. My work focuses to use remote sensing-based laser scanning in infrastructure inspection and assessment, and reconstruct 3D object for as-built BIM.
