After completing an MSc in Computational Intelligence at the University of Plymouth, UK, I continued working there on my PhD studies, completing in 2004. During that time I researched and developed an Interactive Visualisation system to aid the understanding of Engineering Design problems using Adaptive Computing, Clustering and Optimisation Techniques. In December 2004 I began working as a Senior Research Scientist at Lightwave Technologies Ltd in Dublin. I led a team of researchers and software engineers to develop an innovative Intelligent Control of Energy product that saves energy for Building Management Systems. I also worked with the integration team to install and evaluate the product in buildings and assisted management with business plans, research proposals and product development. Currently I am working on the PATHWAYS project at UCD with Michael Bruen, developing the visual interface for a Catchment Management Tool that will model water and contaminant movement in Irish River Basin Districts. The visual interface will present geological and geographical information from GIS layers interactively to a user, the processed data will then be passed to the Computational Engine for modelling. PATHWAYS is a multidisciplinary project funded under the EPA STRIVE Programme; the research partners are Queen's University Belfast and Trinity College Dublin. |
