| Currently I am working on techniques for automatically meshing point clouds generated from LIDAR data. The Urban Modelling Group has aerial and terrestrial LIDAR data covering Dublin for the metro north project and the intention is to 3D print this data for wind tunnel testing.
I also have an interest in UAV mapping. UAVs such as quadrocopters are low cost aircraft that can easily facilitate the collection of aerial images. These images can be processed using structure from motion algorithms to reconstruct 3D models that can then be fused with existing LIDAR data.
My other interests include: Machine learning, A.I., computational creativity, evolutionary design optimisation particle swarm optimisation, Bayesian inference modelling, recurrent neural networks, point-cloud skinning, weather modelling, additive manufacturing.
