Biography

Dr. Jai Prakash Mehta obtained his graduation from Allahabad University; post-graduation from G.B.P.U.A.T, Pantnagar. There after he joined Pune University to study Bioinformatics. Following this he worked as Principal Bioinformatics Specialist at Ocimumbio solutions, Hyderabad and worked on algorithms and software development for gene expression data analysis.

Further on he moved to Ireland for his PhD at National Institute for Cellular Biotechnology at Dublin City University and worked on gene expression in Breast cancer. He then joined UCD Conway Institute of Bimolecular & Biomedical Research and worked with sequencing core facility, managing and analysing sequencing data generated from Illumina sequencers. Later he moved to Systems Biology group and is currently working on Neuroblastoma, developing MYCN transcriptional network using high throughput genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics data obtained from cell lines and clinical samples.

Research

Research Interests

Neuroblastoma is a childhood cancer which arises from the developing sympathetic nervous system. Previous studies have shown MYCN to be associated with the most aggressive form of the cancer. Currently we are using Next Generation Sequencing to sequence the RNA at various time points after MYCN expression. The aim is to build regulatory networks  from various high-throughput omics data generated from sequencing and proteomics experiments. We are also looking at fusion genes on various Neuroblastoma cell lines using paired end RNA-sequencing.
