Aggie is a Marine geologist, graduated from the Department of Geology at the University of Patras in Greece, came out of the University of Southampton with a M.Sc. in Oceanography and then a Ph.D. at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton (UK). Her Ph.D. thesis was on submarine gravity flows (slides and turbidity currents) south of the Canary Islands offshore NW Africa.  In 2006, she joined the 3D Lab at Cardiff University as a post-doctoral research associate and was a member of the industry-funded CAPROCKS consortium. 

In August of 2009 Aggie joined the Marine and Petroleum Geology Research Group at UCD School of Earth Sciences (formerly Geological Sciences) as a Griffith Geoscience Post-Doctoral Research Fellow. She was appointed Lecturer in Sedimentology in September 2013.  She has extensive seagoing experience as she has joined many offshore research expeditions on many research ships and has led some herself on the Irish research vessel Celtic Explorer. Her research takes her to the North Atlantic, Rockall Trough offshore Ireland, Grand Banks and the St Pierre Slope offshore Newfoundland, the Canaries, the Ionian Sea in the Mediterranean, looking at the mechanics of submarine landslides, the triggering mechanisms, the frequency of events and the present-day geohazard.

Co-chief scientist in CUMECS, a research cruise funded by Eurofleets, that investigates the geology and habitats of submarine canyons in the central Mediterranean Sea
