Damien joined the School of Geological Sciences as a PhD student in 1999. He graduated from University Claude Bernard, Lyon, France in Geology, and obtained a DEA (equilvaent to Master Degree) in University Blaise Pascal, Clermont-Ferrand, France in Earth-Sciences. He later completed his PhD in 2005 under the supervision of Prof. J.S. Daly. His PhD and post-doctoral research consists on mineral-scale isotopic investigations of young magmatic systems in Italy. He is currently employed in UCD as a Post-Doctoral researcher working with Dr. J. Menuge on the sediment-hosted Navan ore body (Ireland) using transition elements stable isotopes (such as Fe and Zn) and Pb isotopes as tracers of base metal sources and control on hydrothermal crystallisation.
