Biography

I have a M.A. and M.Sci. in Natural Sciences (Experimental and Theoretical Physics) from the University of Cambridge. I joined the Geophysics Research Group as a Ph.D. student in October 2008 and I am currently working on the development of statistical techniques for evaluating correspondence between stress models of earthquake triggering and catalogues of hypocentre locations.

Research

Research Interests

My research interests are in statistical seismology, including:

  • Development of quantitative, statistical techniques for the evaluation of temporal and spatial correlations in earthquake catalogues, particularly in conditioning analyses using geological and physical information and in integrating information about hypocentre location errors into statistical quantifiers.
  • Development of probability based simulations of catalogues into statistical significance testing.
  • Study of stress based models of earthquake triggering, e.g. static Coulomb stress and fault coupling distributions, and testing these models against catalogues of observed hypocentre locations.
