Biography


Anthony Roche was born and raised in Dublin.

BA
(Mod) Trinity College Dublin, First Class Honours, 1973
MA University of California at Santa Barbara, 1976
PhD University of California at Santa Barbara, 1984

Joined UCD in 1990 where he is currently Associate Professor in the School of English, Drama and Film.
Previous Position: Assistant Professor of Modern Drama at Auburn University, Alabama, USA.

Editor of the Irish University Review from 1997 until 2002. Member of the Editorial Board of the Irish University Review from 1994 until 2002 and member of the Management Board of the IUR from 2003 until the present. Chair of the Board of Drama Studies from 1997 to 2003 and Head of Drama Studies from January 2009 until June 2011. He has also been Director of the Synge Summer School (2004-2007) and hosted the Irish triennial conference of IASIL (Irish Association of Irish Studies) on the theme 'Varieties of Irishness' at UCD in 2007, in collaboration with the Global Irish Institute. 

Received President's Research Fellowship for 2006-7.
