Biography

My main research interest lies in the history of sport, and in Irish social and cultural history in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

I am currently a director of the Century Ireland Project (www.rte.ie/century ireland) and editor of historyhub.ie.

I am also a former reporter with Prime Time Investigates in RTÉ. One of the documentaries I have made is Lost Generation (http://www.rte.ie/archives/exhibitions/1030-emigration-once-again/139200-lost-generation/), which told the plight of elderly Irish citizens who live in Britain. I also worked on the Leas Cross nursing home programme and on documentaries for TG4, including as producer-director for one on the Tailteann Games. I worked as a historical consultant on the TV3 series on life in the Dublin tenements and and on the RTÉ Road to the Rising event on Easter Monday, 2015.
