Marguerite Barry



Assistant Professor at the School of Information and Communication Studies, University College Dublin (UCD), member of the UCD Human-Computer Interaction (HCI@UCD) group and ADAPT Ethics & Privacy Working Group . Formerly Irish Research Council Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the School of Computer Science, Trinity College Dublin (2014-2017) with PhD from the School of Communication in DCU.  
Research interests in ethics in technological design, conceptualising interactivity, technology and wellbeing, discourses on science, technology and society (STS) and histories of digital media; motivated by over a decade of industry experience in digital media project management and media production; supported in teaching Information Ethics, Digital Storytelling and Organisation & Retrieval of Information.
Published widely across HCI and digital media on ethical design in e-Health, understanding  interactivity, interdisciplinary digital discourse studies and web history. Currently supervising PhD studies on ethical and policy frameworks in technologies for mental health and EDGE fellowship supervisor for ADAPT.
