Biography

I am a Principal Investigator on an AXA Research Fund Fellowship at UCD. I am working on a ground-breaking project on storm surge early detection funded by the prestigious AXA Research Fund.

My research addresses some interrelated challenges in environmental resources and energy which are relevant to the sustainable development of the built environment.

I am exploring new interdisciplinary ideas at the intersection of wave dynamics, acoustics, meteorology, geophysics and computer science. I am very active in the computational modelling of wave energy converters (WECs), with special interest in the Oyster WEC developed by Aquamarine Power. My recent research activities focus on innovative information systems for the early warning of coastal flooding.

I am a member of the Society of Energy Fellows at MIT, "the next generation of energy innovators, scientists, engineers, policy leaders, and entrepreneurs who will help transform our global energy systems" (E. Moniz, US Secretary of Energy and former director of MITEI).
