| I have a total of over 60 refereed publications in mathematics. My research covers a wide rangein algebra, but is concentrated in group representation theory, linear algebra and field theory. I have always worked in areas related to discrete structures, and recently entered the discipline ofdifference sets and of Costas arrays. I am currently collaborating with Scott Rickard (ElectronicEngineering, UCD) on problems concerning Golomb-Costas arrays, where I believe my expertisein finite field theory should lead to solutions to problems posed in Rickard's 1993 MIT master'sthesis. I also expect to contribute to the theory of difference sets, the subject of my studentKevin Jennings's thesis. These sets are used in communication, to find sequences with two-levelideal auto-correlation. They have applications in constructing apertures and antennas, and willmerit careful examination in this regard.
