I qualified from medical school (UCD) in 1993. I completed my Fellowship and Certificate of Specialist Training with the College of Anaesthetists in Ireland. I worked as a Research Fellow with Prof R Mirakhur at Queen¿s University Belfast from 1998-2001. I subsequently worked as Associate Professor in the Department of Anaesthesia at Duke University, North Carolina from 2001-2006, where I worked in the Regional Anaesthesia Division. I am a Senior Lecturer and Consultant Anaesthetist at St Vincent¿s University Hospital, where my main interests include regional anaesthesia and the use of ultrasound, and neuromuscular blocking agents. In addition, I am Chairman of the Department of Anaesthesia, Intensive Care and Pain Medicine, and am the College Tutor for anaesthesia NCHDs with the College of Anaesthetists Ireland.
