Research

Research Interests

Health services research is the unifying focus of my research portfolio. Mental health, addiction and primary care form the thematic basis of this portfolio, with quantitative and qualitative research in primary care, development and evaluation of clinical guidelines and complex interventions the areas of methodological expertise.

This research portfolio has developed in conjunction with colleagues at the
School of Medicine and Medical Science and more recently, has integrated with wider networks of researchers from the specialty of general practice, other medical specialties, higher education institutions and health and social care professionals with insights on and responsibility for the planning and delivery of health services.

These collaborations have resulted in -peer-reviewed research funding from national funding agencies and national and international peer-reviewed publications. I have been author on 71 peer-reviewed publications / conference presentations and an applicant on 11 successful grant applications (9 as principal investigator including two HRB research project grants in 2005 and 2006 respectively) that have been awarded 866,313 euros.
