Biography:

Research Interests

Vernacular architecture
Traditional boats and fishing
The cultural landscape (especially those of Atlantic island communities)
Folk drama and oral literature

Tionscnaimh / Projects:

Coordinated a study of Christmas mumming in the north of Ireland and in 2003 organised an international conference in Derry on the subject of folk drama entitled Mumming in Cross-Border and Cross-Community Contexts.
Co-editing the proceedings of the conference with Séamas Ó Catháin, Anthony D. Buckley (Ulster Folk and Transport Museum) and Séamus Mac Mathúna (University of Ulster) for publication in October 2007

Also editing a major study of traditional boats in Ireland which has been underway for some eight years, entitled Traditional Boats of Ireland. This is due for publication in December 2007.
