Biography

Aine is a lecturer in the pre-registration psychiatric nursing programme with 14 years experience. Her teaching areas include community psychiatric nursing, interpersonal skills and communication, specialist mental health and care of the elderly with a mental health problem. She has a special interest in computer aided learning and nursing informatics with extensive experience in the development and utilisation of e-learning tools for the profession.She is a qualified general and psychaitric nurse and is a registered nurse tutor. Since November 2007 Aine has been a nominated member of An Bord Altranais, the Irish nursing and midwifery regulatory body. She is also the nurse/midwife prescribing course coordinator.

Project Manager for An Bord Altranais E- Learning Programme on Medication Management February to July 2007:
I was seconded in to An Bord Altranais for a period of four months to develop an E- learning package to support the revised Guidance document on medication management which An Bord is launching in September 2007.
The project was jointly funded by An Bord Altranais and the National Council for the Professional Development of Nursing and Midwifery and will be housed within the Health Services Executive Learning Centre web site. The programme will be launched on the 13th of September 2007 at An Bord Altranais' annual conference by the Minister of Health. I will be delivering a paper at the conference entitled ‘Enhancing Knowledge of Medication Management through E- learning'.

    Recently completed research to examine the using digital techology to teach undergraduate psychiatric student nurses about auditory hallucinations (July 2008)
