Biography

Margaret is a Registered General Nurse, Registered Midwife and lecturer in the School of Nursing, Midwifery & Health Systems, University College Dublin. Her Clinical and research interests are primarily concerned with Nursing, Midwifery and Women's health. She is passionate about closing the "gap" in Nursing & Midwifery education, research and development, the integration of theory and practice, and student development. Margaret has considerable clinical experience in Nursing & Midwifery having worked in  Medical & Surgical units in Limerick Regional hospital, the Accident & Emergency department in U.C.H.G.  as a clinical researcher in the U.S.A and as a Midwife and Clinical Midwife manager in the Labour & Deliver suite in the Coombe womens hospital. Following completion of her Msc in Health Sciences at the National University of Ireland Galway she undertook her present position within the School in 2005. She has been actively involved in many aspects of Nursing and Midwifery programmes from an undergraduate and postgraduate perspective. She planned the curriculum for the Womens & Mens health (elective) and was Programme coordinator of the BSc in Midwifery programme. She is currently registered for a PHD  in " Irish Couples experiences of reproductive tourism".
