Diana Panke is Associate Professor of Political Science at the University College Dublin. She defended her PhD on the power of judicial discourses in the European Union with distinction at the Freie Universität
Professor Panke's research interests focus broadly speaking on governance beyond the nation-state. She works on small states in international negotiations, on the role of capacities for the shaping of law beyond the nation-state, on the development and degeneration of international norms and on compliance and legalisation.
Diana Panke's work is method-driven, theory-guided and empirical in character. Theoretically, her work draws on newer IR theories as well as more specific approaches (on negotiations, compliance, legalisation). Methodologically, she works mainly qualitatively, but occasionally also uses quantitative methods. Empirically, Diana focuses often on the European Union as an example of an international organisation rather than as a system sui generis. In addition, Diana Panke is interested in the UN and the ILO.
