Biography

Dr. Teresa Burke is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychology, University College Dublin, where she teaches courses in neuropsychology and behavioural neuroscience at both undergraduate and graduate level. After completing her PhD in UCD in 1987, she completed a post-doctoral research fellowship at the world-renowned Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital in Canada. Since returning to Dublin in 1989, she has pursued an active research programme in clinical neuropsychology. Her primary research interests are the effects of neurological diseases and chronic illness on cognitive functioning. She is a widely published expert in the field and she has made a significant contribution to the development of neuropsycholgy in Ireland.

Research

Research Interests

My research laboratory can best be described as focusing on two main areas of behavioural neuroscience / clinical neuropsychology as follows:

(a) neurological disorders and associated neurocognitive and behavioural problems and

(b) construct validity and psychometric properties of neuropsychological assessment tools.

Further details of current research within each of these thematic areas are detailed below.
