Collaborators

Internal Collaborators

As academic coordinator of the Law with Social Justice degree I collaborate with colleagues from the UCD School of Law on curriculum design and teaching and learning practice. The degree is the first of its kind in Ireland and offers students a unique opportunity to combine legal studies with interdisciplinary modules addressing human rights, global justice and a range of equality related fields of inquiry.

I am a founding member of the UCD Human Rights Network and in that capacity co-host and participate in regular events, including the Network's inaugural summer school (June 2013). With fellow Network members, Suzanne Egan and Liam Thornton, I edited a collection entitled 'Ireland and the European Convention on Human Rights', which was published in October 2014 by Bloomsbury.

As Director of the UCD Equality Studies Centre I lead several interdisciplinary research projects undertaken by colleagues from numerous UCD Colleges. In November 2013 the Centre was awarded a prestigious three-year Advanced Researcher Grant by the Irish Research Council to undertake work on the theme of 'Equality of Opportunity in Practice: Studies in Working, Learning and Caring'.

External Collaborators

I am a member of several international research networks, largely in the field of feminist legal theory. For example, while on a research scholarship at the University of Kent I was invited to participate in the Feminist Judgments Project, a dynamic and innovative research project in which a group of feminist socio-legal scholars have written alternative feminist judgments in a series of significant cases in English law. The feminist judgments are published in Feminist Judgments: From Theory to Practice. I am currently participating in the Irish Feminist Judgments Project which will generate several research outputs including a book to be published by Hart in 2016. I also act as Co-Rapporteur for the Feminism and International Law Committee of the International Law Association.
