Present: Lecturer in Veterinary Sciences.
2008 - 2011: Postdoctoral Researcher in the UCD Reproductive Biology Research Cluster. The cluster investigates female infertility in the days surrounding fertilisation, with the aim of improving reproductive efficiency in cattle and other mammals and my focus was on the effects of reproductive tract infection.
2007 - 2008: I studied the pathogenesis of Chlamydophila abortus in pregnant sheep in the Unit of Pathobiology and Infectious Diseases, School of Veterinary Medicine, UCD.
2002 - 2006: I completed my PhD studies investigating the effect of postpartum uterine infection on ovarian function in dairy cattle at the Royal Veterinary College, University of London.
1998 -2002: I achieved a 2.1 Honours degree in Applied Animal Science at the Scottish Agricultural College, Ayr. My honours dissertation investigated the factors affecting bull fertility.

I am particularly interested in the effects of reproductive tract infections on fertility in ruminants including the relationship between the immune and endocrine systems in the postpartum period of dairy cattle, the mechanisms by which uterine infections cause abortion in farm animals and post-mating induced endometritis.
I am also interested in the regulation of reproductive function in mammals, mainly ruminants, including the effects of nutritional status and health on fertility, and the regulation of ovarian follicle growth and function.
