Biography

Sinéad completed her undergraduate studies in the National University of Ireland Galway with a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry. She then obtained a PhD (2005) from the Alimentary Pharmabiotic Centre in University College Cork where her research involved the genetic and biochemical characterisation of beneficial gastrointestinal enzymes activities in Bifidobacterium breve UCC2003. In 2005 she joined the School of Veterinary Medicine and Conway Institute in UCD as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. Her research focused on the oral delivery of novel mucoadhesive polymeric peptide conjugates. In 2007 she joined The Irish Drug Delivery Research Network funded by SFI research cluster award as Senior Postdoctoral Research Fellow in UCD where she gained expertise in the area of overcoming barriers for efficient delivery of peptides for oral, injectable and intra-articular delivery. She obtained a Lectureship in Biochemistry in Dublin Institute of Technology (2010). She then returned to the School of Veterinary Medicine UCD to her current position as a Lecturer in Veterinary Biosciences (2013-present).
