Dr. Gareth Dyke

Dr Gareth Dyke
Dr Gareth Dyke’s research addresses the evolutionary history of birds and their dinosaurian relatives. His work is grounded in the fossil record but draws extensively on living animals. Specific research interests include: phylogenetics of birds; functional morphology of aves and non-avian dinosaurs; and palaeoenvironments of fossil vertebrates.
Dr Dyke teaches a number of undergraduate courses as part of the zoology programme, including third-year units in Functional Morphology and Biomechanics, Evolutionary Biology and Vertebrate Diversity. His final-year undergraduate teaching includes an innovative course in museum collections research – Museum Biodiversity Research – which is done in collaboration with Dublin's
Natural History Museum.
