A Chemical Engineering graduate and PhD-holder from UCD, Professor Don MacElroy is now Professor of Chemical Engineering and Head of the School of Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering

In November 2007, Professor MacElroy was appointed lead Principal Investigator (PI) of the Advanced Biomimetic Materials for Solar Energy Conversion strategic research cluster, which received a €5.3m grant from SFI. The cluster combines expertise from UCD, UL and DCU, as well as industry partners Airtricity, OBD-Tec and Celtic Catalysts.
As well as being Head of School and having teaching responsibilities, he regularly sits on peer-review panels for funding agencies and journals.
