Professor Pauline Rudd
The scope of this research covers all post translational modifications of protein based drugs. According to Professor Rudd, “This is an extremely exciting area of research to be in. We’re involved in just about every field of biology because we have a useful technology and lots of experience of glycosylation. The multidisciplinary research is a collaborative venture with research clusters from the rheumatology group at St Vincent’s Hospital and researchers in neurochemistry in TCD.”
Professor Rudd moved to Ireland in 2006 following the decision of the Glycan Sequencing Group at the Glycobiology Institute, Oxford, to relocate to Dublin. The setting up of the NIBRT was seen as an opportunity for Oxford to have its cutting edge technology applied in a new way which would place Ireland at the centre of the European Pharmaceutical Industry.
