Ben Hurley, Chief Executive of the National Digital Research Centre (NDRC)
Based in Dublin’s Digital Hub, and operating as an independent company, the NRDC was founded in 2006 with the purpose of translating innovation in the laboratory into products and ideas with strong commercial potential. Through cultivating digital media start-ups and identifying venture funding sources, the NDRC aims to boost the number of knowledge-intensive companies being formed, thereby making a significant contribution to the economy.
The NDRC has a strong mix of public and private partners and was established with funding from the Irish government. It has now completed its first phase of investment, directing €12 million into 17 translational research projects with 14 commercial partners.

The current investment platform supports over 100 people focused on translating solid science into commercial reality.
The NRDC was founded by a consortium of third-level institutions: University College Dublin, Dublin City University, Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design & Technology and the National College of Art & Design.
