About TRILLaunched in January 2007, the TRIL Centre at UCD conducts research into technologies that allow people to live independently as they grow older.
Working in interdisciplinary teams, researchers develop and test new technologies designed to help older people live self-sufficiently, thus
improving their quality of life while reducing the burden on carers and the healthcare system.
TRIL commenced with funding of approximately US$30 million over three years from Intel Corporation and IDA Ireland.
Supporting independent ageing involves the combination of several complementary research strands, underpinned by a technology platform,

The centre is a collaborative effort combining Intel personnel and researchers from Irish universities (University College Dublin, National University of Ireland Galway, Trinity College Dublin) and hospitals in multi-disciplinary teams.
