The CSFP, co-ordinated by Molecular Medicine Ireland (MMI), trains the next generation of clinician scientists (academic medical leaders) with unique and specialised knowledge essential to fulfill Ireland’s research needs in translation medicine.
The training programme transcends institutional boundaries to give Fellows unparalleled access to the top biomedical researchers in the country and to state-of-the-art basic and clinical research facilities. The aim of the programme is to provide a systematic way to train this essential group of clinician researchers through a structured 3 year medical graduate PhD programme.
HSIS was funded under PRTLI Cycle 4.
Following the first call in 2007, 19 MMI Clinician Scientist Fellowships were awarded, all of whom commenced their fellowship in July 2008.
MMI was established by the National University of Ireland Galway, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Trinity College Dublin, University College Cork and University College Dublin.
