NovaUCD
As well as providing incubation facilities for campus companies and supporting them through their early stages of growth, NovaUCD helps businesses and industry partners identify suitable commercialisation opportunities within UCD’s research portfolio.
NovaUCD is also responsible for the implementation of UCD policies relating to intellectual property (IP) and for the provision of advice on the identification, protection and exploitation of this IP. NovaUCD works with UCD researchers to identify the most appropriate business model for the commercialisation of the IP which may involve licensing to commercial partners or the creation of spin-off companies.
All research activities involving industrial partners are channelled through NovaUCD. New invention disclosures at UCD are up by 60%, according to the latest figures released by NovaUCD. Researchers at the university reported 85 new invention disclosures in 2009, up from 53 the previous year. A total of 247 inventions have now been disclosed to NovaUCD over the past 5 years.
