The Seed Funding Scheme offers researchers the opportunity to apply for internal awards to enhance their research activity in UCD. It provides practical support for projects and project ideas that are challenging and ambitious, as well as those that develop new areas of knowledge and capabilities using both conventional and unconventional approaches.
The Scheme aims to support researchers, particularly those in the early stages of their research careers, who show potential for research excellence. The Scheme also aims to provide seed funding to transform new ideas from early concepts into viable research projects that can successfully compete for subsequent external support. In this regard, priority may be given to submissions that have a clear plan regarding future proposal development, particularly those with a likelihood of receiving external funding. The Scheme may also support projects where there is demonstrably no alternative source of funding available.
