Career Seminars  

Accessing hidden jobs- it is estimated that around 80% of all jobs in Ireland are not advertised, i.e. they are hidden.  Find out how to develop a strategy to target these and identify employers you are interested in applying to.A series of short bespoke seminars have been designed to explore areas of common interest that reflect frequently asked questions and are consistent with similar provisions offered at other institutions in Ireland and in the UK.  Seminars provide quick and easy access to key information and facts on areas such as:


  • Presenting your Experience- in all applications it is essential to relate existing experience and skills to the employer and position applied for.  This translates your experience into future potential.
  • Labour Market Intelligence- researching career options is a key factor in future career success, this practical session will help you identify reliable sources of information.
  • Developing an Effective CV- this practical session will define key differences between an academic CV and a CV for industry and provide “top-tips” in how to make your CV and covering letter work for you (also see our new section on Research CV templates and CV guidelines).
  • Effective Interview Preparation- preparation is paramount when attending for interview and yet so many people get it wrong. This practical session will help researchers develop an effective approach to interview preparation, and understand what impresses employers at interview.
  • Interview Skills Practice.
  • Strategic Career Planning.
