Employer/Researcher Networking Event for the Agri-Food/Vet Areas - 29 November, 2012

The aim of the event is to give Post-Doctoral Researchers an insight into the sector and it will focus on:

  •   the types of opportunities available for researchers
  •   the types of skills and attributes sought by employers from candidates
  •   the key trends and likely developments within the sector over the next few years

There will be speakers from:

Norbrook Laboratories 
Norbrook  is active in both medical and veterinary products. Research and Development is the key to Norbrook’s success with the R&D Department central to the company’s structure.  It is responsible for new product development, technical support and meeting regulatory and licensing protocols.  Norbrook invests more than 10% of its turnover annually in research and development of new products. 

Teagasc 
Teagasc is a client-based organisation operates in partnership with all sectors of the agriculture and food industry and with rural development agencies. We have developed close alliances with research, advisory and training agencies throughout the world and are continuously seeking to expand our international contacts.

Monaghan Mushrooms
Our state of the art Research and Development facility currently has a portfolio of various projects investigating: - New Product Development, - Compost and Casing formulations, - Efficient use of By-products and Wastes, - Nutritional Analysis and Improvement, - Improved Performance and Quality.  As well as our internal development activities we collaborate with world renowned mushroom research organisations to deliver specific agendas. We keep our finger on the pulse by regularly monitoring research publications and take a leading role in world wide networking groups like the Mushroom Global Health Initiative.

The format of the event will be:

  •  a brief presentation by each organisation (10 – 15 minutes each)
  •  a short Q & A from the floor
  •  and a chance to network over light refreshments.

As the Agri-Food / Vet sector continues to grow in strategic importance in Ireland and worldwide this is an excellent opportunity for participants to:

  • develop their awareness of the attributes sought by employers
  • gain an insight into current developments in the sector
  • have an opportunity to grow their professional network in the sector
