Early Career Research Discussion Forum

Have you ever…

- Questioned whether your academic research career would benefit from a collaboration with an industrial partner?

- Considered how you could find a suitable non-academic partner for your research?

- Wondered how you can best utilise your research experience to progress in a non-academic career.

As part of the 2016 UCD Conway Festival of Research & Innovation, we are running an ‘Early Career Research Discussion Forum’ at which you will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from:

- funding bodies who support academia-industry collaborations

- commercial companies interested in forging partnerships with researchers

- researchers whose collaborations have contributed to their career path in both academia and industry.

The panelists will outline the steps taken on their own career paths as well as personal / work- place experience of the benefits, and challenges, of academia-industry collaborations.

You will be invited to discuss with them how you can successfully bring your scientific skills into industry and whether academia-industry collaborations contribute (or not!) to career progression.

A light lunch will follow the forum session (12.30pm - 1.30pm) where industry and funding agencies will be available for follow-up discussions.
