REC becomes a member of the Universities Federation for Animal Welfare (UFAW)

The UCD Research Ethics Committee has become a member of the Universities Federation for Animal Welfare (UFAW) - an internationally recognised, independent, scientific and educational charity concerned with improving knowledge and understanding of animal welfare.

The UCD Research Ethics Committee has become a member of the Universities Federation for Animal Welfare (UFAW) - an internationally recognised, independent, scientific and educational charity concerned with improving knowledge and understanding of animals' needs in order to promote high standards of animal welfare through the following:

  • supporting high quality science that will lead to substantial advances in animal welfare
  • promoting education in animal welfare - particularly at university and college level through its Research and Project Awards Scheme
  • providing information, organising symposia and conferences
  • providing expert advice to government and organisation
  • wide range of publications
