Room Booking Policy

Spaces under these allocations are available on a first come first serve basis.  The system is now fully on line and students can search available rooms and complete their contract in one process without the uncertainty of a lottery or lengthy decision process.

UCD Residence Scholarship Schemes are run by UCD Residences for a number of categories.  These include DARE, Sports, Ad Astra, Elite Athletes and Bord na Gaeilge.  If you have applied to any of the Residence Scholarship Schemes successfully you will be marked on the student information system accordingly and offered the relevant accommodation options subject to availability.

Each Residence Complex has room availability for every category which opens up a wider choice to all students in terms of facilities and price ranges.  Where possible we will try to make information available as part of the booking system so that you can see the profile of people already booked in an apartment, however there may be occasions where there is a mix within an apartment.

Apartments are generally of mixed gender, although a small percentage is reserved for those with religious reasons.

Room bookings start according to the following schedule however some allocations may be released in a phased manner as required.  Junior Year (CAO) can book a priority place on the waiting list should they get an offer to UCD.  In August, when the CAO first round offers come out, students will be given a room offer based on their place on the waiting list and will be given a time frame within which to complete the offer (24 hours).  Offers will be notified by email to students through their new UCD email account and it is their responsibility to check their email daily.

Waiting List

If at the time of booking rooms are unavailable, students may opt to register on the electronic waiting list which will also offer on a first come first serve basis as rooms are reallocated.

Students made an offer on the waiting list have 24 hours from the time of the offer to go on line and complete the transaction before the offer is rescinded.

Notification of offers will be emailed to the student.  It is their responsibility to check their email on a regular basis.

Where a student has registered on the waiting list and subsequently finds alternative accommodation, we would ask that they de register themselves from the waiting list in order to make their space available to other students.
